Is the actual list posted anywhere? Not a summary but a picture of exactly what Trump sent to Congress? TIA
OP here, and I realize that was just the summary, I've been looking for the actual list of points but thus far haven't found them. (I'd like to see them delineated, as well, as I'm sure that even I would disagree with a few.) I'll look again a little later this morning.
I can't find the actual memo/bill either
Here you go (thanks to CNN): http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2017/images/10/08/final.immigration.priorities.10.08.17.pdf
OP here, and thanks for this. I notice the liberals aren't complaining about these points, and that's because they make so much sense (the points, that is, not the liberals!) Some of the "no-brainers" include: - requiring employers to use E-verify, so that Americans won't lose jobs to those ineligible to work - expanding deportation to include gang members (like duh) and those convicted of crimes in general, including multiple DWIs. (if anything, I'd say ONE DWI could get you kicked out. Illegal immigrants need to appreciate that they broke our laws to come here, remain here by our good graces, and cannot violate any laws designed to protect Americans' lives). - increasing penalties for repeated illegal entries by those previously deported - close the loopholes associated with unaccompanied minors - additional agents to enforce the immigration laws Those are just a few off the top of my head. Got to get back to work.....
All the "no-brainers" in immigration were done long ago. Everything else is hard. More ICE agents? What a joke. That's going to make the problem worse. The backlog in immigration courts is up to four years already. How about fixing the court system instead of the police system. Most of the people here are hard to deport because they have deep family ties and are part of the fabric of American life. Many families consist of mixed immigration status. Are you going to deport mom and leave the US citizen kids? Is that good for America. Sorry my simple-minded friend. Immigration is hard. Don't fall for the siren song of easy solutions, which is not serious policy, but red meat for the base.
