I flush, so does my mom and sister. We grew up in a house with WORST plumbing ever. It was a well system, with horrible water pressure. And lo and behold, we never had a toilet clog because of tampons. As for sewage treatment workers having to fish them out, well, I don't see that as different from trash collectors having to throw them in a landfill. It's what they do for a living. And in the big scheme of things, I doubt that tampons are that big of a deal compared to everything else that ends up down there. Whatever. I'm going to keep flushing, because it's JUST PLAIN NASTY to put used tampons in the trash.
Me too - old house, three women flushing, never had a problem. Tampons aren't made of kryptonite so I think they are ultimately, bio degradeable. I also thought trash cans were for pads. And the stuff that gets flushed, inc. condoms, I can only imagine. I am not too worried about cotton tampons. And isn't the whole filtering process for sewage largely automated? It's not like there's a worker in rubber pants with a net fishing tampons out of sewage ponds.... is it?
