As for sewage treatment workers having to fish them out, well, I don't see that as different from trash collectors having to throw them in a landfill. It's what they do for a living. And in the big scheme of things, I doubt that tampons are that big of a deal compared to everything else that ends up down there.
Whatever. I'm going to keep flushing, because it's JUST PLAIN NASTY to put used tampons in the trash.

Oh please I haven't heard about any big plumbing issues in my neighborhood. I use the bio kind, flush and have never had a clogged toilet. I guess we''ll soon see this debate on a Dateline investigation. Give me a break!
