Oh please I haven't heard about any big plumbing issues in my neighborhood. I use the bio kind, flush and have never had a clogged toilet.  I guess we''ll soon see this debate on a Dateline investigation.  Give me a break![/quote]

We had a plumbing issue because the previous owner of our house apparently flushed tampons for many years.  Shortly after we bought our house, both of our upstairs toilets periodically backed up into our bathtubs. Disgusting.  When a plumber sent a snake with a camera on it down the toilet, there was a huge clog in a pipe that was shared by both toilets.  There must have been a rough patch on the pipe because the plumber brought up a massive wad of wound up tampon strings that had gotten caught in the pipe.  Absolutely disgusting.  The previous owner kept flushing her tampons and they apparently got caught up in this area and eventually disintegrated, but the strings just kept building up until it blocked the pipe.  Cleared out the strings and no more issues.  Likely kind of a freak occurrence.  Still, I've always thrown away tampons anyway, but I definitely do now. [/quote]
