My husband's exes tended to be mousey, bookish/downright nerdy, Jewish women - just like his mom. I've met many of them and have liked them all (I also love my MIL). Some are good family friends to this day. I'm the polar opposite - athiest, ethnic, sassy. He wanted to get away from Judaism.
Lots of atheist, ethnically Jewish women in the US. Did he just not like American Jewish culture? When did Jewish stop being ethnic? Does ethnic only mean non-white now?
I know, right? And when were Jewish women not known for being witty and sassy? Kind of a confusing post.
He wants nothing to do with Judaism, including culturally. He doesn't consider himself to be Jewish at all (argue with that if you want, but it's how he feels). I honestly don't know much of anything about Judaism, and I personally have only ever considered Jews to be white, not ethnic. My bad. Sorry for the confusion.
Not to derail the thread, but Judaism is both a religion and an ethnicity. Not a race. (There are Jews from all over the world, so we can be white, black, brown, whatever.) For example, I'm white, secular/humanist, and Jewish. And sassy. :)
