Truly I can't reconcile the GWB votes and the flyer Northam sent saying he is "the progressive choice". Not buying the PPs argument about this. Neither is great but Perriello is stonger on climate issues and part of the future of the Democratic Party. Either way, we must avoid Ed Gillespie.
I voted for GWB twice back when I was still buying what the GOP was selling. Then I switched parties & voted for Obama twice. I've been solidly in the liberal camp for over a decade. So I'm quite comfortable with Northam, because he's like me! I appreciate his honesty. Do I regret my GWB votes? Absolutely. But they don't change who I am now. Voted Northam in absentee voting already.
I think it is possible to change and I have some sympathy for Northam there. Your story is a compelling example of why. My issue with Northam is that the reason he said he voted twice for Bush was because he "wan't paying attention to politics" then. HE WAS A VA STATE SENATOR! Sorry for yelling, but holy hell. For that reason alone I couldn't vote for him and I am disappointed that he won. McAulliffe has been bad for Virginia, particularly the these toll concessions that look shady. I expect in a few years they will be politically toxic but they are for 70 years! If Northam is to follow McAuliffe's legacy, I am not sure that Virginia will be liveable in the long term.
