Similar here. I'm AA, and grew up middle class in the South.  I don't know anyone personally who's affected by heroin or opiate abuse.  I only keep in contact with a handful of my high school friends (h.s. was 50/50 black/white), but haven't heard of any problems related to either heroin, opiates, or any other substances.

Another immigrant here. I remember the crack epidemic affecting mostly black urban people (and hence they were put in jail for it rather than treated for their ''disease of addiction'). In contrast it seems like the current opioid epidemic is mostly a white person problem. It's sad either way imo.[/quote]
