Madison has higher SATs, a higher US News rating, a higher Washington Post Challenge Index rating, more National Merit Semifinalists, better sports, better music programs, stronger college admissions, and a more popular curriculum (AP rather than IB).  I'd take that against a GS rating based on SOL scores any time.[/quote]

And Marshall is more diverse, which gives it an edge in my book.  But you seem to be missing the point.  Neither school is clearly "better."  School quality should not be a driving factor in OP's decision between these two pyramids.[/quote]

Disagree. If I can afford Langley, McLean or Madison, I'm not going to look in the Marshall district.  Don't particularly want IB, and the higher number of low-income kids at Marshall is just a fact, not really a plus (if diversity is so great, why aren't the Marshall folks sending their kids to Falls Church instead)?

Think we'll have to agree to disagree on this point.  We like IB and see positives in both racial AND socio-economic diversity.  If our kids decide against IB we would send them to Falls Church with no qualms.  [/quote]
