How much do you rely on your husband, boyfriend or other man in your life to deal with car issues? I can't be bothered with the details of simple fixes like replacing a dead headlamp bulb. Usually, my DH will do simple stuff like this, or he wil deal with the mechanic. I am too busy and can't be bothered. I just want it taken care of. However, as usual, DH travels and sh*t starts to go wrong with the car and he is useless helping me over the phone.
My husband relies on me. He's from a country where labor is super-cheap. I, on the other hand, grew up poor. We fix our own stuff. I do all the generic car maintenance. I take it to the mechanic when necessary, so I know we won't get jerked around with some big story requiring a big repair. There are basic car maintenance and repair classes out there, if you want. Some geared toward women.
