I didn’t click the link (do I want to see whatever it is? Probably not). Just observing that Gen X grew up practicing for the moment when someone would enter their school and gun them and their friends and teachers down. Meanwhile, they watched this very thing happen again and again to kids just like them. Month after month, year after year, for their whole lives, we as a society said “gun violence is ordinary, good luck out there.”

After mass shootings of children and other citizens going about their daily lives we've been told by the gun rights advocates that it's the "price of freedom." We have an absolutely fetishistic gun culture in this country and if you shoot the right person you can get off scot free. I am sorry Brian Thompson was killed. I am sorry for his family. I believe a crime was committed and it was wrong. But the shocked articles and hand-wringing and lecturing are over the top. We've spent over 25 years telling school kids that gun violence is just something that happens in America/it's not a big deal, what did we expect?[/quote]
