Spanberger needs to veto this quickly before it hijacks the redistricting effort. The longer the casino is out there the more it hurts her bigger efforts.
Prediction: Spanberger will not veto or sign the legislation.
If she doesn’t veto it by April 13, then the legislation passes even without her signature. If she does nothing, she is a bigger coward than I thought. Tick tock, Spanberger.
She supported it. She will let it pass even if she doesn’t sign it. Why can’t people comprehend that?
Point out one instance where she has explicitly said she supports the casino? I don’t necessary thing you are wrong that she won’t veto the bill, but I cannot think of any example where she commented on it.
Spanberger accepted $100,000 from Christopher Clemente, the CEO of Comstock Holding Companies, the developer pushing for the Tysons project. Winsome Earle-Sears, ac words $105,000 from a PAC funded by the same developer. By accepting the money from Clemente, Spanberger signaled her support for the casino though she said she wants to see a gambling commission to go with it. It is all political jockeying and making room for plausible deniability in any event. Having someone from your own party pushing for this casino makes it more likely she will let it pass without signing the bill.
