Talent ID sessions happen all the time. Kids get invited usually via recommendations from their coach and club. A big bunch goes, majority are filtered out and don't go to future phases to camps and so it goes Not sure why the drama
I don’t see much if any drama in the boys selection. The club and coach don’t tell us anything. We see scouts occasionally at games and the selections aren’t announced by the club. Many find out on social media when invitees (or their parents) share the news. Player selections aren’t surprising either. Girls selection seems wild in comparison.
Boys selections are announced on social media, just like the girls. It’s just that the girls parents are crazy about it.
It's not just the girls parents. I've seen social media posts from girl soccer players that they attended a college's ID camp. Mind you these are camps where anyone can sign up and pay to attend. Also have also seen posts about having phone calls with college coaches. Sometimes they'll mention the conference. Look at me, I'm talking to a Big Ten coach! Do people really think these social media posts get coaches interested in them? If I were a coach it would have the opposite effect of trying too hard and must not be very good on the field if they need to resort to PR tricks.
