This is an echo chamber. I know there is a myth re: federal employees being lazy. I worked for DOD and private companies. The lazy employees exist in both places. IMO it is much easier to fire underperforming employees in the private sector. I don’t think most voters were thinking about federal employees in the months preceding the election. I think there’s a difference in reducing government oversight and unnecessary expenditures and wanting to fire federal employees. I worked in a position in a private company for nine years. During that time the environment changed, and my division was no longer necessary. I was reorganized out of a position. That happens everywhere.
The difference is, their stated goal is to eliminate numerous jobs even though they’re “necessary” and are doing it for spite. Additionally, government employees often take their jobs despite lower pay and sometimes thankless hours because of the mission and the steadiness of employment while most private sector workers know their jobs may be eliminated based on management’s whims/direction. You cannot compare the two.
