I don’t think most voters were thinking about federal employees in the months preceding the election. I think there’s a difference in reducing government oversight and unnecessary expenditures and wanting to fire federal employees.
I worked in a position in a private company for nine years. During that time the environment changed, and my division was no longer necessary. I was reorganized out of a position.
That happens everywhere.

My empathy for the public can only stretch so far and I fear I’m reaching a limit.
Oh please. For the past 5 years, parents have been yelling at teachers telling them they are worthless. Some community members have been demonizing police, telling them they are all terrible. Many people want socialize medicine, which will cut into the profits of anyone in healthcare. You are not special.
Are you OK with your teachers lacking empathy for your children? What about the police, should they lack empathy for victims of crime?
Life can be tough and unfair. Deal better.

I can’t imagine what is going to be left of social security and all federal benefits once Trump gets done. I would imagine a 40 or 50 year old will have to work into their 70’s. This will affect the entire workforce, not just Feds. It’s sad for everyone in the work force.
Did you retire under CSRS? That early to retire from the fed! Did you get a second job? Or really retire at 50 with just your govt pension?

Do you dissolve into a puddle of tears every time a company lays off staff? This happens ALL the time in companies and corporations, across entire industries.
Remember covid when people lost their jobs, their businesses, their livelihoods?
This. Government workers were calm and relaxed while the government put restrictions in place on most private industries that put tons of people out of work (either officially or unofficially by simply not allowing them to work to get a paycheck). It’s long overdue that the bloat was cut from our federal government. I don’t agree with everything that Trump does but this one I’m looking forward to.
Many functions will likely move to the states anyway. So unless you’re doing something completely useless, you probably still have options if you live in a blue state. There will be some disruption but that’s life.
You are so dense. Most gov workers were very sympathetic to those who couldn’t work because of the pandemic, and fully supported PPP, eviction freeze etc. it’s the incoming party that opposes all that (well except keeping PPP to help the bottom line, whoops can’t find my workers).
I am ALWAYS upset when a layoff happens, most especially when a profitable company lays off people to goose stock.
not really, USCIS celebrated as they replace US workers with cheap foreign labor. fire every other person.

I can’t wait to see the mass fed layoffs. Time to trim the fat!

And this time, there will be no one to process your PPP loans or your stimulus checks when you all decide to tank the economy!
Yup - and those Trump voters will get all butthurt when those Gov services that they rely on (SS, Medicare, Obamacare, IRS refunds, VA, you name it) begin to suck because their guy did exactly what they voted for - and then they'll likely blame Harris and Biden. Clinton, too. And the Trans/Woke/DEI people. And MSNBC.
That’s because they are all 🤡🤡🤡 who have no idea what the government even does.
Exactly. And yeah when HHS is cut, and the bird flu comes around but there is no vaccine because RFK JR - I assume Obama will be blamed. Maybe Carter, too.
