Sometimes the kids don’t even know?? Playing in college seems like a great idea until your alarm goes off at 5AM and you have to drudge through a dark campus to lift “legs & back” for an hour.
Any club coach who really pays attention can tell you. Same with most hs coaches. You can tell if a kid is truly committed to their sport. It’s very very clear to those who pay attention.
And this is why you have to applaud those kids who recognize this early enough and do not succumb to the expectations of others around them. It's interesting to read how some on this board make the assumption every kid who plays club wants to play in college. And if they don't, there is something wrong with them or their club. College lax is not for everyone and that is okay. Far too often you see kids doing what they think they are supposed to do, either because of clubs or their parents expectations. Lacrosse can provide a great opportunity to attend great schools. But once the shininess of the recruiting and commit process wears off, the players better love the school they chose because they just signed up for a full-time job on top of a full-time class load, and that lacrosse job more than likely will not pay after graduation. Congratulations to all of the girls that have committed. Enjoy the experience you make of it, not what others want you to do.
