I'd assume that it depends on how your kid reacts to the environment.  But I really wish people thought a lot more like you, inside soccer and outside soccer.  There are too many people looking to hop on bandwagons and go with choices that others will like or laud instead of thinking about what may be best for their kids (and themselves).  I understand the logic up to a point.  But all that front-running can run you right into a brick wall when you face adversity elsewhere.  The environments are all competitive among the kids, but the parents at some certainly make it marginally worse.[/quote]
