It's the decision-making qualities, which only comes through coaching, playing a lot in different environments (vs older players, pickup soccer, futsal) that eventually make a player stand out, COMBINED with superior technique.

So those "early trained" kids have a head start, but it doesn't mean they will end up on the senior national team.

Anyone know Alex Morgan's story? Better yet, anyone know the "actual" story behind the scenes? She didn't even play travel soccer until she was a teenager, but I think she had to have been pretty good to begin with.[/quote]
