Not the PP but Loudoun and McLean 07 top teams are relatively strong at midfield. That's the strength of their teams.

Agreed, among VA teams, McLean and Loudoun each have a midfielder that stand out from the other players. MD United also has an outstanding midfielder, who seems equally good. We saw her play the Va teams in a couple tournaments. No real idea about other girls in DC or MD. We don't see those teams play.

Not everyone is the mom of that 07. Haven't read this board in days, but 07s that play age don't really have a bunch of stars in the DMV. That was my question.

Can both sides please let this go? I get the fair point that people that fish for compliments and/or brag about their kid on threads or other social media (and choose to make it public for the world to see) are inviting the good and the bad that comes along with it. However, some of the comments about the mom and her kid have been quite harsh.

Obviously, everyone here is an adult and can post whatever they want to post, but there have now been 3 or 4 pages in this thread of back-and-forth, primarily driven by these two different sides. It would be nice to let this one go and get back to other soccer-related topics that are not so personal.

^This applies more for girls.

The very best players at early age groups for boys are MOSTLY kids whose family moved here from other countries, or kids in families originally from other countries who have lived in the US for a while. Or, a parent is a coach or former player who has already developed and trained many other kids, and knows how to train at home.

There are exceptions, but not that many.

Point is that the players that appear to be the best at the young ages are the ones with the most accumulated training hours. That is true when you are dealing with younger age groups.

It's easy, although expensive, to hire a trainer to work with your kid every single day of the week. Excellent technique gets you to the highest level at the younger ages.

But then on an 11v11 when you don't have the ball as much, and the ages start to get older, the standout players are the ones who can unlock defenses with their decision-making, which comes through coaching and game IQ and intelligence. If you are playing for an elite team, technique is assumed, and it's assumed that all players on your team have strong technique.

It's the decision-making qualities, which only comes through coaching, playing a lot in different environments (vs older players, pickup soccer, futsal) that eventually make a player stand out, COMBINED with superior technique.

So those "early trained" kids have a head start, but it doesn't mean they will end up on the senior national team.

Anyone know Alex Morgan's story? Better yet, anyone know the "actual" story behind the scenes? She didn't even play travel soccer until she was a teenager, but I think she had to have been pretty good to begin with.

Whar is this woman's twitter handle? I must see this hysteria for myself.

I don't think it is appropriate to directly give it, but if (a) you look at WAVA's U15 roster (see game reports on DA site) and find the 07 on that team and (b) google the player's name, then you will find the mom's twitter handle, as well as YouTube videos, pictures, etc.

LOVE that response!
