Also, those are different meanings of the word "like." PP - the one who was asking if you're 12 - seems to think you meant it as the kind of Valley Girl verbal tic: "Like, his IQ doesn't hit 3 digits?" Whereas clearly you meant it in the more literal sense of, where the word "like" was a stand in for a word like "clearly" or "obviously." "Obviously his IQ doesn't hit 3 digits."

You're absolutely correct:  that was an incredibly dumb detail to include because no one here cares about your resume.  But guess what?  Since you shared, I will too.  I'm an editor for a nonprofit periodical.  And using "like" at the beginning of a sentence, in the way the PP (you) did, is incorrect.  Can it be done?  Sure.  But the writer will look like an immature moron, especially if they don't even bother to use a complete sentence.  Kind of like a person who uses "whaevs," thinking s/he is somehow cute.[/quote]
