LAMB is a ward 4 school with headquarters on Missouri Avenue. The entitlement to demand they be anything else or make up for the shortcomings of the entire DCPS structure is staggering.
But they opened a campus in Ward 5 and accepted families from wards 6-7-8. These people add to the diversity of the school. Our children are entitled to continue their education at lamb and lamb has a responsibility towards them. I understand there is tremendous hostility towards this group of parents, but I don't understand why. They're not focused on killing the dream of a unified school, they just want to be able to send their kids there without uprooting everyone.
There were families from wards 6-7-8 enrolled at back when Missouri Ave was the only campus too.
And there was no help with transit. Then the building on Missouri Avenue was moved to Our Redeemer church (basically in Mt Rainier) for 2 years, and no one got help with transit. Then we all went back to Missouri Avenue. For a while until we had to move back to Ward 5 while they did more construction. Through all these moves, there were families from every single ward at LAMB. What has changed are family expectations -- and there is more competition now. But from Diane and Barrie Lynn's perspective, families figured it out before, and they assume they will figure it out this time too.
