The immense majority of the public is not aware of the nitty gritty of this fight... or even that it happened. All they see is a conventionally attractive blonde in a lovely princess dress on a red carpet. It pops up on their feed or their news and they go: "Who's that? Blake Lively. OK". So this person boosts her profile just by showing up. You might criticize her for various shenanigans, or say she's not that beautiful, or has not landed important roles, but most people aren't that picky, to be honest! She looks fine, and I bet she's more attractive than most of YOU. I have no dog in this fight, I'm a short Asian lady :-) And since Baldoni doesn't walk red carpets of that magnitude and has no access to that level of exposure... he's not as well known to the general public. To understand how this plays out, you guys need to step back from your microscopic view and take in the macro of the general public.
But this makes no sense. She sued for $160 million in damages because of bad publicity…. so bad publicity doesn’t matter why would she have sued? It’s a circular argument. Blake fans want it to be so but it’s just clearly not. You could see in the Sony execs exchange that it matters. As the head of Sony said, and I’m going to take his word over yours since that studio is paying him tons of millions of dollars to know these things, she won’t work again. What people are missing is that people don’t care if the public turns because it was a smear campaign or it was organic, the point is people don’t like Blake. And that’s exactly why she sued. She wanted get some money back for lost opportunities. These opportunities aren’t coming back. Ryan made a movie before all this that was supposed to be released in fall of 2025. Because of this whole mess it was postponed to 2026. Because the mess continued on, it’s now been bumped to 2027. Studios don’t do this out of the kindness of their heart. If Ryan could get butts in seats, they would release the movie. They’re hedging their bets that maybe in a year things will blow over and it will be better. Paramount also did not renew a first look development contract with him. These people are not in demand right now. You can argue all you want, but that’s just how it is.
Yes, and they're rumored to be moving to London now. I wouldn't be surprised if the studio told him to lay low this so things cool off before the release date. A flop of a big budget movie like he makes can bankrupt a studio or contribute to that. He is beholden to the studio to help them make a profit.
