Are you also afraid to fly? Deal also has metal detectors.
If the Hardy feeder parents hold strong and send their kids to Hardy. And, if the majority of Deal feeder parents maintain their intention of sending their kids to Wilson. Then I bet we can make those metal detectors fo away in a few years. Of course it will require DCPS to shrink the Wilson boundary and get ride of OOB feeder rights. But if upper NW parents stand together and don't allow DCPS to fragment us as they have done in the past, we CAN do this.
I disagree with so much of your post but let me just focus on one point... You understand that metal detectors are there to protect kids, right? I have two kids at Wilson and I see no problem with the metal detectors. Entering the building may take some time but I actually prefer knowing that everyone has to go through them rather than wondering if an unstable, depressed teen is in crisis and has brought a weapon to school. Of course you could move to an affluent suburb, say, Columbine, CO where they clearly didn't have metal detectors. Thanks 11:14.
