If the Hardy feeder parents hold strong and send their kids to Hardy.  And, if the majority of Deal feeder parents maintain their intention of sending their kids to Wilson. I disagree with so much of your post but let me just focus on one point...

You understand that metal detectors are there to protect kids, right?
I have two kids at Wilson and I see no problem with the metal detectors. Entering the building may take some time but I actually prefer knowing that everyone has to go through them rather than wondering if an unstable, depressed teen is in crisis and has brought a weapon to school. 
Of course you could move to an affluent suburb, say, Columbine, CO where they clearly didn't have metal detectors.
