But why should Walney Oaks be pulled out of Chantilly and sent to Westfield? Shouldn’t we be then pulling Crossfield out of Oakton to go to Skyview?
Both are the result of lobbying by louder voices. However, I don't think both Fox Mill and Crossfield would fit into Skyview. Objectively, it should be Crossfield. This is Dixit's call and Crossfield is mostly in Sully. Fox Mill parents seem to really want to go to Skyview, Distance is pretty much the same, but Oakton could use relief. But, I sympathize with Fox Mill because of the IB issue. FCPS should eliminate it in all schools unless they decide to create a niche program in one school. Hey! There's an idea: keep AP at Westfield but create an IB academy there. If Reid had used objective standards for backfilling Westfield, it would be fine. Proximity should have been the driver. FARMS would be consistent with other area schools. Take the schools that are close to equidistant and send them to Westfield. Common sense is lacking.
