I am not at STJ, but I have experienced this. It is not the STJ fault, except the poor results. The league tells the clubs when they can announce when they are accepted to GA or relegated to Aspire. The club can’t make that announcement until they are given the go ahead. The same thing happened at NVA and Charlotte last year. If you are mad, be mad at the league for allowing IDs and acceptances before they let the club make the announcement they are in a different league/level.
The league doesn’t decide when STJ has tryouts. Instead of deceiving girls and their families, they could have waited until next week. It’s simple. They chose to move forward with the lie.
Correct GA doesn’t decide; however in Dec they did give all the clubs the opportunity to vote on delaying tryouts for the spring of “all” clubs in the division agreed. The only club that voted against delaying tryouts was SYC. That forced STJ to move forward while waiting for GA to determine the club’s future status as a member and while waiting on a determination of their Aspire application. Lot of moving parts for a bad situation all around but in the end, the club put themselves in that spot, not GA. How the club decided to move forward and communicate this to families is where they truly failed. But then why would it be successful when the same people responsible for the decisions that got them there are the same people determining how to move forward while trying to save their jobs. It’s never one decision, it’s the series of decisions over time that have proven to bring the club to where it is now. IMO, Aspire has always been a part of the plan to ‘expand’ but GA made it their solution to allow STJ to maintain their membership with GA as a whole. In short, show us you can be successful in Aspire over the next 2-3 years and we will bring you back.
Why would SYC vote against that?
Because SYC starts their ID sessions in Dec to try and get ahead of the crowd.
