I’m reading Nancy Pelosi’s memoir (btw, so disappointing so far, I was hoping for details about her upbringing and early political career and all it is 1/4 way through is a recap of old news articles). Anyway, I am at the point t where he is discussion 9/11 and how the attack was so unexpected (despite the July report, despite the fact that the Guardian in 1999 had a 2 - page spread about Bin. Laden and his intentions). I remember how after 9/11 I thought of several ways the US was extremely vulnerable to more attacks (I don’t want to highlight here to give anyone ideas!) those remain vulnerabilities. I hope people realize that the Muslim hate incidents and continued funding to Israelto kill more people leaves us very vulnerable here at home! This is not just a conflict on foreign shores. It can very easily come here and harm us.
And to put things in perspective the 9/11 perforator’s were Saudis. Not Palestinians or Lebanese. But it is not far fetched to think future attacks might come from these population given that we have paid $$ to kill and maimed their family members.
Yes, and Bin Laden's stated hatred of the US was because of our support for Israel. I am NOT being antisemitic - I am Jewish - I am just stating documented facts. While I support Israel's right to exist w/in UN approved borders, I think going beyond that has jeopardized not just Israeli citizens but also US citizens. My fear is that our politicians are so scared of being labeled antisemitic and subject to attack the way countless people have in the last year for speaking up for Palestinians / out against Israeli military actions, that they are not recognizing how much hatred their positions have stirred up in the middle east (and those from the region).
