It's a weird thread. It's a committed defense against a claim nobody is making, and it is very determined to die on that one particular hill, regardless of whether it is actually on any map. Fascinating.
People need to start making this claim. You’ve inadvertently hit the nail in the head. Atheists like you need to stop sweeping their own sexism and sexual abuse issues under the rug while they attack others. How can you read this from pp’s post on the previous page and think that all’s well with sexual conduct in the atheist community. “Michael Shermer was supported by the atheist community after he was accused of raping several women. Shermer got legal funds without asking on a fundraiser page built by Emery Emery, the “Ardent Atheist”.[29] The fundraser included a rape joke with generous contributors offered a bottomless glass of wine, with Emery “who will not be drinking but keeping your glass full.” This was a reminder that one woman complained Shermer repeatedly refilled her glass. Myers also got an offer of legal help from Popehat who is experienced with online libel trouble.[30]” Or the sexist comments from Hitchens, Dawkins and Harris that are also in pp’s posts.
Where is there anyone claiming that people who identify as atheists can be abusers, too, just as much as any religious enthusiasts?
Gets us to a bigger point, that people suck in general. It’s not limited to Catholics, despite what some of you want us to believe. And that atheist and religious communities are all guilty in supporting abusers. Which you’d never realize from reading the gleeful posts by anti-Catholic bigots every time there’s a new case of priest abuse. Also, the denial and defensiveness on this thread about atheist abuse is revealing.
But where is your evidence? Also, nambla is not an atheist specific organization. Where is your proof? You just have words and no proof.
