It's a weird thread. It's a committed defense against a claim nobody is making, and it is very determined to die on that one particular hill, regardless of whether it is actually on any map. Fascinating.
People need to start making this claim. You’ve inadvertently hit the nail in the head. Atheists like you need to stop sweeping their own sexism and sexual abuse issues under the rug while they attack others. How can you read this from pp’s post on the previous page and think that all’s well with sexual conduct in the atheist community. “Michael Shermer was supported by the atheist community after he was accused of raping several women. Shermer got legal funds without asking on a fundraiser page built by Emery Emery, the “Ardent Atheist”.[29] The fundraser included a rape joke with generous contributors offered a bottomless glass of wine, with Emery “who will not be drinking but keeping your glass full.” This was a reminder that one woman complained Shermer repeatedly refilled her glass. Myers also got an offer of legal help from Popehat who is experienced with online libel trouble.[30]” Or the sexist comments from Hitchens, Dawkins and Harris that are also in pp’s posts.
I think you’re the OP masking as someone else because this post is so similar to the major focus of the thread. No atheist is sweeping anything under the rug. It’s that people of faith clearly have a lopsided amount of verifiable evidence about actual sexual assaults that have taken places in houses of worship by clergy under the leadership of those houses of worship. You can’t point to atheism in the same way and it vexes you so greatly. Atheism isn’t a repressive ideology like Evangelical Christianity or Catholicism that has clearly shown itself to result in sexually frustrated clergy molesting kids. The investigations and findings are clear as day and some have been listed on this thread. Your accusations of atheism having some much molestation under its belt are only vague or are not actual examples of physical sexual assaults that have taken place and have been verified by authorities. So you’re just arguing anecdotally without tangible proof. Maybe this is all an elaborate ruse by a trolling atheist to sort of backhandedly underscore how bad sexual abuse in houses of worship is. Your points have not landed with anyone. You’ve shown no actual cases (“but dawkins said pedophila was….!!!” Is not a clear case. You have shown nothing that was committed). I really think it’s just high level trolling meant to get atheists to have dredge up all the easily located studies and evidence that shows their religion is fking disgusting when it comes to assaulting kids and then covering up for those assaults. That’s why I don’t go to church. You are bad to Gay people and assault children and cover it up.
