Parent FAQ - Spring 2026 Transfer Information
1. Can RBFC absorb my child’s current team as a full team?
Yes. RBFC can welcome an existing team. A team can retain its existing NCSL number
provided the majority of the team transfers, allowing it to be properly registered and remain
viable for league play. Our goal is to preserve team continuity—players, coaches, and
culture—throughout the spring season.
2. What is the process for transferring my child’s player card?

interest should be expressed no later than Wednesday, January 22 so that RBFC can plan
rosters, coaching assignments, and league registration in a timely manner.

Parents may request the release from their current club at any time prior to the start of the
season. RBFC will provide email templates and instructions to support families. Once
released, RBFC admin will add players to the league roster and create a league player pass
that is valid for the 2025-2026 seasonal year.
4. Do I need to pay any outstanding balance with my current club?
Yes. Most clubs require all financial balances to be paid prior to releasing a player.
5. What costs will RBFC cover for the spring season?
RBFC will cover club G&A expenses as well as coaching compensation. Players are responsible for
a per player fee of $190 which will include all league fees, jerseys, shorts and socks for each player.
6. What league will RBFC teams compete in this spring?
RBFC teams are scheduled to participate in the NCSL for Spring 2026.
7. Where will teams train this spring?
Field assignments will be confirmed by February. Expected locations are in Fairfax County (Great
Falls / Reston / Fairfax area)
8. What will the training schedule look like?
Families can expect two team sessions per week, plus optional technical sessions once fields
are confirmed. Sessions typically begin at the end of March.
9. Will teams keep the same coaches this spring?
Yes. Teams transitioning to RBFC will keep coaching continuity throughout the spring season.
10. How will communication work going forward?
Families will receive email updates from the club and individual teams.
11. Can players join RBFC if their player release is delayed?
This situation will depend on league rules. RBFC will support families during the transition. If your
release is not processed promptly, please reach out to us so we can help troubleshoot.
12. What are the next steps for families?
Families will receive more information about the release process, followed by additional club

The "Fairfax area" is very large.  Fairfax County is very large.

This puts existing teams in a tough position, and where they may be persuaded by the loudest voice.  [b]This is where McLean and GFR could at least message families with a clear point person (or a few) to discuss what the options are and reasons for staying/going.[/b]  [/quote]

Why would either GFR or McLean be truly threatened by this club and have to convince players to stay?  Please name a "new" soccer club that has succeeded in the past decade in NoVa.  Any that you might name are going to be affliliated with a bigger club - Valor, VDA, etc. - every other club has failed or struggles to find field space and needs another club as an umbrella (NVU etc)[/quote]
