Anyone else keep conflating Dr. Robby with Carter from ER? I keep thinking he will mention his start in Chicago and dealing with Langdon's addiction would trigger his.
I'm actually surprised that I don't conflate them, and I was ER-obsessed back in the day. I'm about the same age as Carter/Robby, so that probably influences my feelings. Robby seems like a very different character. To me, the essence of Carter was his youth and inexperience. My primary memory of Carter was not so much of a new doctor learning to practice medicine, but of a new doctor learning to emotionally reckon with the intense trauma and pain he witnessed every day. Robby is more than just the opposite of that-- He's like the ideal of a mature and wise man/doctor. When he speaks to patients and especially to families, his affect, tone, and words are pitch perfect. He's straightforward but kind, knows how to gently lead them to face the truth while giving them time to absorb what's happening. He's equally great with the staff.
