You think that your child is thriving because half of your child's peers can't pass basic grade level tests. Its EASY to think you are doing great when the competition is so low and the bar set even lower. Do you play sports with people over 95 years old? DP, but you two are absurd.  There's more to thriving than being the best compared to others. If my kid is emotionally secure, engaged, curious, kind, forms solid peer relationships, etc., that's thriving.  This obsession with competition at the *elementary* level is incredibly damaging.

There are also objective measures of performance, which indicate, that, yes, kids from schools with high FARMS rates can be performing on par with kids from wealthier schools.  The horror![/quote]
