"There are 13 states trying to put constitutional amendments protecting abortion on the 2024 ballot—but not if anti-abortion group Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America can help it." https://msmagazine.com/2024/02/27/susan-b-anthony-pro-life-america-abortion-ballot-measures/
They’re all about letting voters decide until it’s time to let voters decide. Then they don’t want any of that noise.
In other words, they’re slimy liars who will give any justification for what they want, even if it contradicts previous justifications for their positions, because they don’t have any actual convictions, and every position they articulate is just about getting what they want right in that moment.
Correct. Which is why, when Trump and the GOP are hinting (and sometimes Trump is openly saying) what they plan to do, even if it sounds far fetched and totally ridiculous, understand that the GOP has no scruples and will say or do whatever they want to get what they want.
No one believes what he says other than his base. What he says at this point about abortion or IVF or any reproductive issues is of little consequence. He overturned Roe with his SCOTUS picks and everyone knows it. He will have to suffer the consequences which likely include a bigger loss than last time around.
It’s not “him” I’m concerned about. Trump is only the symptom of the GOP’s rot.
+1 The GOP began to degenerate into stupidity with Newt Gingrich and conservative talk radio and then went from stupidity into sheer insanity with the rise of the Tea Party. It started long before Trump - Trump is just someone who came along, tapped into it, and emboldened, enabled and empowered that stupidity and insanity even further.
