I believe there is a silent majority or at least sizable population that privately agrees with him.
I think you are right. I think many people support his ideas or at least his stance on immigration, refugees, and terrorists even if they don't admit it. They may end up voting for him at the polls and never admit they support him. Even as a liberal that Byrd for Obama twice, some of the things he says make sense to me.
I think there is a large section of the populace on both sides of the aisle who are fed up with Washington elites ignoring the will of their constituents. Their ego and elitism makes them believe they know what is best for the peons and people have had it up to their ears with the paternalism. People are just plain fed up and sadly, that is what has given rise to Trump. I fear a lot of people will "pull the lever" for Trump in the privacy of the voting booth. Personally I cannot believe that this is the best that both parties have to offer. An old, untrustworthy white woman and an old socialist on one side (heavy on the old in both cases) and a lunatic, a Christian fanatic and a host of diversity without substance on the other. At this point I do not see anyone I could vote for in good conscience. I hope one of the candidates can change my mind as I have never missed a national election and have crossed back and forth across the aisle many times. It is time to take the leadership of both parties to task as, imho, they are not only destroying their parties, they are destroying the country.
I also voted for Obama twice and secretly agree with a lot of what Trump says. I'll probably pull the lever for him.
