DC spends almost $10,000 more per child on those in DCPS vs. charters. You can see the breakdown in spending here: https://dcchhttps://dccharters.org/blog/testimony-fy27-boh-pcsb-dcpsarters.org/blog/testimony-fy27-boh-pcsb-dcps
Fixed: https://dccharters.org/blog/testimony-fy27-boh-pcsb-dcps
DC spends $10,000 more per child in DCPS than in charter schools? How is that even legal?
No union, no union benefits 🤷🏽♀️ If they choose to not utilize unions that is their right but do not expect the same level of benefits.
I'm agnostic on union benefits. But the difference in facilities funding is a genuine issue of fairness.
And there is a great deal of shadiness involved. Bowser gets huge campaign contributions from developers, and then steers these school projects to those who donate a lot. This has all been reported on, you can look it up. Lots of genuine questions be asked about school renovation funding.
(To add to this -- independent charter boards would choose their own developers for their projects, so Bowsers preferred developers would have no advantage. That's why she wants to keep the facilities budget out of the school budget).
