I think this response is called "whataboutism."
We should all be wary of our shady mayor and her dealings (and Kenyan will be the same). It's not the schools or families faults, but it's happening.
Janeese would be the worst of all. She is rabidly anti-charter. I don't know how any charter family could support her.

(To add to this -- independent charter boards would choose their own developers for their projects, so Bowsers preferred developers would have no advantage. That's why she wants to keep the facilities budget out of the school budget).

Yes, $10,000 is nuts. DCPS cannot afford the raises it promised. So it is offloading a huge percentage of its budget (facilities). Just give everyone the 5-6% needed, or give everyone the 2.5% and make everyone get more frugal to save the city money.

Some DCPS ESs, like Mann, have a single multipurpose room that works as cafeteria, gym, and auditorium
So there you go, private schools and public schools, also lacking cafeterias.
I don't begrudge the existence of charter schools, but this "woe is us" schtick is irritating.
You clearly don't know anything about charters. You should maybe visit one and see for yourself.
I've spent time Two Rivers 4th (crowded and yuck) and Young (nice and spacious).
What is I'm missing?
