That it may not pass shows how out of touch democrats still are
You are in the deep minority on this when people understand what this bill actually does.
Voter ID is just common sense that falls well within the mainstream of public opinion, transcending party lines and demographics. Polls consistently show overwhelming support: A recent CNN poll revealed that 85 percent of white Americans, 82 percent of Latinos, and 76 percent of black Americans favor requiring photo ID to vote. And Democrat Elites continue to make up reasons to reject. But that is a good one, so People are for the Save Act , but until they understand it like the Elites understand it , they will change their mind. thank you for that morning chuckle.
Please show a poll that isn't totally partisan, that demonstrates popular support for the SAVE Act.
Here is the Gallup poll link, which is one of the most respected nonpartisan sources: Gallup poll (October 2024) Result: 83% support requiring proof of citizenship to register to vote. Direct link: https://news.gallup.com/poll/652523/americans-endorse-early-voting-voter-verification.aspx View Gallup poll: Americans endorse proof of citizenship for voter registration Key finding from Gallup: “Providing proof of citizenship when registering to vote for the first time” is supported by 83% of U.S. adults. Survey conducted Oct. 1–12, 2024 with 1,023 adults nationwide. Why Gallup is considered especially credible Founded in 1935, widely regarded as the gold standard in polling Uses probability-based sampling Transparent methodology and full question wording provided Nonpartisan and academically respected
Except the SAVE Act is doing more than what this poll is asking.
19 states give illegal aliens drivers licenses, all refuse to turn over full voter rolls to the Trump Admin, DOJ has sued 17 of them - 1. California 2. Colorado 3. Connecticut 4. Delaware 5. Hawaii 6. Illinois 7. Maryland 8. Massachusetts 9. Minnesota 10. Nevada 11. New Jersey 12. New Mexico 13. New York 14. Oregon 15. Rhode Island 16. Utah 17.Vermont 18. Virginia 19. Washington State You expect voters to believe Democrats concerns on Save act?
Just because someone has a drivers license doesn't mean they are on the voter rolls. States are smart enough to be able to figure out how to grant a license without granting the right to vote. It is only MAGA who thinks everyone is as dumb as they are.
There are databases that check these things you flarpin morons. Its also interesting to me that R pundits (AKA bootlickers) keep mentioning the affidavit carveout for people who dont have proof of citizenship. The process for those without DPOC. Section 2(f) of the SAVE Act creates a process for individuals without DPOC that is so unclear it would likely be unworkable. The SAVE Act requires the Election Assistance Commission (“EAC”) to provide guidance for states to accept voter registrations from individuals who lack DPOC, but that the process shall include an applicant (1) signing an attestation under penalty of perjury that they are a United States citizen, and (2) submitting “such other evidence to the appropriate State official demonstrating that the applicant is a citizen of the United States.” What this “other evidence” could be—evidence that is not already included in the list of acceptable DPOC under Section 2(a)—is unclear. Further, upon receiving the signed attestation and the additional, undefined proof of citizenship, the SAVE Act would require election officials to make their own determination as to whether the applicant may properly register to vote—and then sign an affidavit themselves explaining their basis for allowing the applicant to register to vote Its just hoops and circles meant to cause confusion. Its a poll tax. Its gymnastics. Its perfomance art. But mostly its BS. If the government wants proof of citizenship then it needs to provide it free and easy to access and also the onus is on them to find all the documents- oh, and pay for them.
