I am not against voter ID; however, it is onerous to force people to go above and beyond to prove they are who they say they are. A Real ID should be sufficient to prove citizenship — if not, then the onus should be on the states to ensure everyone's Real ID shows this. A woman should not have to track down her marriage certificate(s) if she already has a Real ID.

The thing is, this is going to hurt the Red States more than the Republicans think it will. Older people are overwhelmingly Republican AND they vote — but putting the onus on 89 year old Matilda and 75 year old Gertrude to track down their marriage licenses and get a proper ID is going to limit their ability to vote in the end. All these old women will ultimately not vote because it’s going to be too difficult for them to manage it. Good luck, Republicans!

The thing is we can already tell you're angling for illegal votes when you start mentioning what party it is going to hurt more. It's high time to make our voting systems legitimate and not just in legislation, but in action. End the nonsense and excuses.

Absentee ballots used to be limited to those who required it and you had to meet standards to do it. I voted absentee when stationed on an overseas miltary post. It may have changed, but, at that time, I had to get a form from the JAG office and I think it had to be notarized there. It was not that hard, but there were checks on it.

Now, some states are sending out blanket mail in ballots. If you do not understand the fraud that can occur, you need to up your critical thinking skills.

And, yes, there is fraud. The most rampant is among mail in ballots. People are prosecuted for it, but, according to a federal prosecutor, it almost always requires someone to "turn" and report it.

You are not the first one to prefer absentee balloting which gave rise to the phrase of "ballot harvesting" - where the GOP go into nursing homes and "harvest" ballots. Not all of them make it to the ballot site to be counted.

Just because someone has a drivers license doesn't mean they are on the voter rolls. States are smart enough to be able to figure out how to grant a license without granting the right to vote. It is only MAGA who thinks everyone is as dumb as they are.

The process for those without DPOC.
Section 2(f) of the SAVE Act creates a process for individuals without DPOC that is so unclear it
would likely be unworkable.
The SAVE Act requires the Election Assistance Commission (“EAC”) to provide guidance for
states to accept voter registrations from individuals who lack DPOC, but that the process shall
include an applicant (1) signing an attestation under penalty of perjury that they are a United States
citizen, and (2) submitting “such other evidence to the appropriate State official demonstrating that
the applicant is a citizen of the United States.” What this “other evidence” could be—evidence that
is not already included in the list of acceptable DPOC under Section 2(a)—is unclear.
Further, upon receiving the signed attestation and the additional, undefined proof of citizenship,
the SAVE Act would require election officials to make their own determination as to whether the
applicant may properly register to vote—and then sign an affidavit themselves explaining their
basis for allowing the applicant to register to vote
