Here is a pretty good explanation from an attorney: https://attorneyryan.substack.com/p/deep-dive-trumps-fbi-arrested-a-sitting?utm_campaign=post&showWelcomeOnShare=true
Thanks for posting. It's interesting how the two "sides" diverge here. Those on Dugan's side are clinging to the idea that the agents had the wrong warrant and trying to excuse Dugan's behavior on that basis. Honestly, though, I don't think that's how it went down. I think if she had actually believed that their warrant wasn't sufficient, she would've explained to Flores-Ruiz's attorney and instructed the attorney on how to get the arrest overturned. Instead, Dugan went rogue and decided to sneak the guy out. Not very professional. Besides, the administrative warrant DOES allow agents to make arrests in public, and the Chief Judge confirmed that hallways are public. Judge Dugan could've stayed out of it and simply said, my courtroom is not an appropriate place for an arrest based on an administrative warrant, you'll need to wait until he's in a public area. But she was helping him evade arrest. I don't see any way around this, although I appreciate the defense she's trying to mount.
