The deplorable state of the current Democratic Party is exactly aligned with the drop in church attendance and religiousness of the left. Unfortunately (and I say this as an atheist), people instinctively need and want something to believe in. Religion went away on the left, so they replaced it with identity, and as a result the progressives are completely irrational. Identity is a religious belief now, not a political one. [/quote]
