I grew up in Ireland and miss the unhealthy food of my youth. Now that I’m WFH I’ve been recreating “curry chips” every so often - half a bag of Ore-Ida frozen French fries baked in the oven, then drenched in “curry” sauce (made from a powdered mix). God it’s so delicious
I was just in Ireland and brought back some curry sauce and am 100% dreaming of a night when DH is out so I can do just that. Except I like curry cheese chips so cheese will be involved.
There used to be an Irish restaurant in a random strip mall in Alexandria that had good curry fries when I wanted some. Fiona’s. It’s now gone sadly.
The Irish Inn at Glen Echo does not have the curry chips but other irish classics such as shepherds pie and fish and chips … It is very close to Virginia from both Chain Bridge and American Legion Bridge. Nice atmosphere and the manager is Irish so has many authentic touches … it has casual pub, relaxed al fresco and formal dining sections.
