DCPS has a process where a panel of people, including parents, interview 3 finalists.

A few charters may have a parent panel, but that is rare in DC.

I think the distinction here is that the [b]LAMB board told parents [/b]they'd be involved in the search but didn't specify how. And I don't' know that an interim hire was even on the horizon when that commitment was made.

For the record, LAMB parents who read the school wide communications from the board knew an interim principal was coming and that the interim hire would be done by the board without parent input.  Also, the board has issued an RFP for search firms and has committed to a search committee for permanent positions.  As a LAMB parent, I will never defend the communications practices of either the outgoing admin or the board.  It's always been a huge problem. For example, the communication to the school about the hiring of an interim principal came after the position was posted.  But I don't think there are many people at the school who are in denial about what happened anymore.  Some people are sad that people they knew and trusted made such terrible judgments and are gone. Some people like the families that are most angry (perhaps because their children had the teacher or were victims) aren't acknowledging the accomplishments of the founders.  Many people remain frustrated with the response of the school.  Parents are making efforts, not all successful, to talk to each other and move forward.  While I think all parents at LAMB appreciate the concern of parents with kids elsewhere, and I'm sure some posters here are LAMB parents venting with out necessarily identifying themselves as such, I don't get the vitriol and rapid contribution to this list by so many who seem not be to LAMB parents.
