This just in: During a hearing this afternoon Judge Xinis made *extremely* clear to the government:

"Your clients are absolutely forbidden at this juncture to remove Mr. Abrego Garcia from the continental United States.  That is the understanding that we have?" (In other words, "Do you understand?")

To which the administration lawyer responded "Your honor, yes. We certainly understand that."

Judge Xinis also observed that threatening someone that unless they pleaded guilty to something - "assuring" them a deportation to a relatively benign place (Costa Rica) - that they would be deported to somewhere very dangerous was "unconstitutional" and did not sound like due process.[/quote]
