My mom had a neighbor who was shot by the police running home during the Detroit riots.  He was 14 years old was just walking to the store, got scared started running. He heard someone yelling at him and had no idea it was the police.  He lived but with permanent damage.[/quote]

That's tragic. And that was something like 55 years ago. Times have changed! My uncle was a Detroit cop during that time and if you mouthed off to a cop or ran from the cops you are definitely going to get an ass kicking. If you mess with a dog too much, you deserve to get bit. [/quote]

If you are a police officer now and you had friends/family who were cops back in the day, you would have a different opinion. You are basing your opinion on what you have gleaned from the media. Do you know how the media works? They love sensationalism that is in no way an accurate representation of real life.[/quote]
