What the heck is a "soft reject"?  And how do you know how many there were? And are soft rejects included in the acceptance numbers on the CDS? Methinks Northeastern likes to play with the numbers to make themselves look like something they are not.

Those stats are nice. Seems like admissions doesn't have a very holistic method of admission though. For a school of its caliber, those numbers are very inflated. Seems like they only look at kids with high stats to admit. Is their admissions department run with AI?

NEU does not include Global scholars or NUIn in their stats.  DP: by soft reject I suspect they mean that NEU doesn't include those GS and NUIn programs.  The yield for those is very low simply because many kids move on.  They are essentially Spring start and Fall sophomore transfer programs, but you are required to attend the specified NEU program.  It's completely normal to have low yield for those programs.  These kids are highly qualified students and will likely have several other excellent choices with a traditional fall start and will select one of those [/quote]
