Great episode confirming a few of my suspicions. You can almost see it on our hs’s Scattergrams. I think they grab these full pay kids with 1200s on the SAT but TO. The yield is sky high for this cohort.
I just listened to this. I can't believe that Northeastern only counts the admit rate to their Boston campus to make the admit rate seem a lot lower than it is. It seems that most kids get admitted through the other transfer options.

Most kids did not. Please stop with the misinformation. You are zeroing in on one school because you were rejected. Statistically, most applicants are rejected.
Perhaps you should explore UVA Wise, or any number top colleges with similar programs. You need to educate yourself.
You are making it glaringly obvious why you were rejected. Time to let it go.

Also, Common Data Set for 2019-2020:

25%-75%
1390-1540
Not sure why the older mother who hates NEU has to continually lie about the school. Just so odd.
What the heck is a "soft reject"? And how do you know how many there were? And are soft rejects included in the acceptance numbers on the CDS? Methinks Northeastern likes to play with the numbers to make themselves look like something they are not.
Those stats are nice. Seems like admissions doesn't have a very holistic method of admission though. For a school of its caliber, those numbers are very inflated. Seems like they only look at kids with high stats to admit. Is their admissions department run with AI?

Full pay test optional could literally be any college. Please tell me you know at least that much.
How are "these kids" unwillfully "grabbed"?? You mean kidnapped?? Blindfolded?? Taken from their beds?? In the middle of the night?? Should we call the FBI?? Announce it on DCUM?? Should we call Jeff Seingo?? What's his name?? Start a podcast?? They conduct these podcasts for free, right?? How do we get these poor unfortunate kids out of their terrible unelected state?? It must be awful. Please, tell us more.
Truthfully, you sound "sky high". The drama!

FYI. My kid applied EA in 2023. Deferred to RD and ultimately waitlisted.

These are not predetermined categories. neu has done a fantastic job with building its coop program and improving its desirability. Yes it's true, my DS and his friends mostly regard neu in the same tier as HYPSM because the acceptance rate is lower than all of those schools at 3.5%. we are at a W school so when someone gets into MIT for example it's met with a 'meh', but when you get into neu everyone will know. My DS said his friends literally screamed when someone got accepted because 40+ applied this year and only one got in. It truly is an amazing prestigious school.
Does W in W school stand for "whack" now? Are you all really that out of touch with reality?
No one at my kids' mcps schools or anywhere really regards neu as anything close to MIT or an Ivy. It's a fine school. Be happy. Stopt this nonsense of tryingto compare it to T15 schools.
This thread has totally jumped the shark. Calgon, take me away![/quote]
Calgon?
You're old.
