I'm only post because someone else just bumped this up, but can we just move on? Why do people keep resurrecting this thread? (Unless f course the NEU marketer). It's insane. It's a decent midtier college in cool city. It has some creative admissions/marketing that result in a low admit rate. It offers coops. There. Can we please put this to bed now?
Curious if there are any other "midtier" colleges with an average SAT of 1500? Patiently waiting...
Those stats are gamed just like their admissions rate. Their admissions numbers are just not comparable to any other school because they are calculated differently.
You can't game a 1500.
You can with test optional. A school merely doesn’t have to count lower scores because those scores were not submitted by prospective students. Does this really need explaining? NEU hired a data analytics team to work the rankings. That doesn’t make it a better school. It’s getting known as the place that ships freshman off to London or Oakland.
UVA is test optional. In fact, here are the top 100 colleges that are test optional, including Harvard: https://www.crimsoneducation.org/us/blog/the-complete-list-of-us-universities-going-test-optional-in-2021-22/ Northeastern is a fine school. If you did not think so yourself, and were not so disappointed in your kid for not being admitted, and if you were not obsessing over it, you would not keep reviving this tired thread.
