If you look at crime stats, DC has some of the strictest gun control laws yet had 99 murders in 2010 and was at the top of the list in the country for firearm murders with 16/100,000. There is a vast difference between weapon ownership and crimes committed with weapons. Law abiding citizens who go through the courses, etc in order to obtain a concealed carry permit are generally not committing crimes. Criminals obtain their guns in illegal manners, and carry concealed weapons illegally. [/quote]
