There is no history without the history of exploitation of one group by another. None. It still happens today around the world.
So your answer is we should celebrate exploitation with fancy dress balls?
The answer is that cancelling the balls is not an answer.
 I give up. But be aware that when people call you racist, it’s not without merit.
Be aware that many people think your definition of racism is itself racist.
DP, but how so?
Look at this exchange. I expressed the opinion that cancelling fancy dress balls has no measurable impact on the exploitation of one group by another. That's all I did. But holding that opinion was all that was needed to consider me racist, even though the balls don't affect, except emotionally. Many people think that's racist because it is telling other races how they must think and how they must behave.
And people have told you that celebrating the exploitation has a very measurable impact in that it tells the marginalized group, “I understand what you’re saying and why that’s hurtful.” It says you’re listening. And I think if it’s affecting our fellow citizens emotionally, then maybe you can just have a different theme ball instead of continuing to cause hurt. Do you seriously not see why that makes you racist? That people have for 25 pages explained patiently why it’s hurtful and unnecessary and you’re here pretending to have common sense. Acting dckish isn’t illegal, true, but if someone tells you repeatedly that you’re acting dckish and you keep doing it, maybe you’re just a dck.
