[/quote] If you treat DC like Puerto Rico then DC residents who do not work for the federal government would be exempt from federal income tax. They would still pay Medicare, social security, and other taxes. And the 20 percent or so who work for the government would not be exempt from any taxes. You would get fewer federal benefits yet pay close to the same amount. Makes no sense. [/quote]
