If there is some consolidation of Rush teams into Bethesda, then that will be a good thing for those teams, which will be much stronger after the consolidation. I wish some of the NOVA teams would similarly consolidate. I'm not saying to go back to the days of just 2 options for girls in the area, but something less than 7 would be good for all involved.
The best teams per age group will win out in NOVA...not necessarily any particular club. The talent will look to consolidate themselves. The better kids will look to get on the best team possible during their recruitments years. With the newly published NCAA rules, the 10th grade year for girls is the most important. Next year it will be the 04s getting the looks. The better 04 (rising u16) teams will be getting to looks of "free agents" starting May 1. This is when the consolidation happens.
The better kids will look to start and play minutes with a team that can compete with other good teams in the conference. They won't look to sit on the bench of the team with the most wins.
In a good senerio, a player can get both. Maybe what I should have said was players will be looking to get on the best team possible where they can play and contribute will obtaining meaningful minutes.
