The best teams per age group will win out in NOVA...not necessarily any particular club. The talent will look to consolidate themselves. The better kids will look to get on the best team possible during their recruitments years. With the newly published NCAA rules, the 10th grade year for girls is the most important. Next year it will be the 04s getting the looks.

The better 04 (rising u16) teams will be getting to looks of "free agents" starting May 1. This is when the consolidation happens.

10th grade? I thought the new NCAA rules made 11th grade the key year. Especially with all the restrictions to conversations with 10th grades and rumors that those rules will get even stricter this spring.

I think PP is making the point that which coaches reach out to you on June 15 before 11th grade year depends on how well players do 10th grade year. Coaches will be assessing prior to reaching out.

That makes sense. I will say I noticed quality junior year commitments at our club to some top colleges over the winter and even a commitment this spring. Before parents panic and look at this coming year as make it or break it.

Do your best. Committing to an unknown in the players 10th grade year can lead to disaster. You cant make up for lost time.

If there was ever a time to get educated, it's now.

Agree and most junior commitments will happen August timeframe following visits. Some national top players may have offers before then but new rule hopes to delay commitment until after Aug 1 before junior year. The idea being that fewer players will commit to a program without at least having a conversation with coach. College coaches can still talk to club coach but no communication with player before June 15 is a big change. In the new world player can visit the college in August, watch practice, meet players and meet coach face to face before committing.

10th grade year is the year. No doubt about it. All the juniors announcing their commitments is from being recruited their 10th grade year.

I know 9th graders who email coaches regularly to get viewed at games and tournaments.

You need to pay close attention in player movement to know which teams have potential next year. A pickup or lose of 2-3 players can boost or degrade a teams potential. Current records are a good baseline. However, do not jump in feet first without knowing what the potential roster will look like. (Actual comittments)

Is this practical? Given the timing of various teams' tryouts and formal offers, will your kid realistically be in the position of getting a list of actual commitments from a coach before your kid pulls the trigger on her decision? I would think not. At best, it would seem the coach might tell you the potential roster, but you are going to be taking their word on whether any of those girls actually committed

The better kids will look to start and play minutes with a team that can compete with other good teams in the conference. They won't look to sit on the bench of the team with the most wins.

In a good senerio, a player can get both.

Maybe what I should have said was players will be looking to get on the best team possible where they can play and contribute will obtaining meaningful minutes.
